Diagnostic imaging or medical imaging refers to the techniques and processes used to create images of the human body for clinical purposes. The imaging equipment usually consists of an x-ray tube or camera that is suspended from the ceiling, a long flat table and an upright box with drawers that hold imaging cassettes. The x-ray tube produces images that are captured by these cassettes. These procedures usually only last a few seconds and can be used to reveal and diagnose healthy or abnormal conditions of the body.
